Zambia’s ex-President, Edgar Lungu, says he is aware that 25 dockets, largely bordering on treason, have been opened at police by the ruling party against him by the UPND cadres.
Lungu has also claimed that government was building up a case for his looming arrest on trumped up charges, while insisting that he was under house arrest, Lungu told the British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC) on Friday [today] on his preparedness to face the allegations.
In an interview with the BBC, the former President said he was ready to face the consequences caused by his return to politics.
He also wondered why the Zambia police claimed that they were concerned about his personal security when the State had withdrawn all his benefits entitled to him.

“The house which the state had provided in Kabulonga was grabbed away, the one vehicle which they had given me was taken away, the chef was taken, security was withdrawn, and literally everything was gotten away. I pay for my own security,” Lungu said.
Lungu complained that he was stopped by police each time he left his home, including the times he went jogging.
“I have been subjected to numerous unconstitutional actions. I cannot go out of my house. This is a build-up case which will culminate in my arrest. But I am ready for them,” he said.
