Guardiola’s impressive track record includes being voted as the Barclays Premier League Manager of the Season in 2017-2018, 2018-2019 and 2019-2020.

He continued enhanced his CV with outstanding performances, such as guiding City towards potentially securing four successive titles, a historic feat if achieved.

However, Guardiola faced tough competition from Jurgen Klopp, who was departing Liverpool but had the chance to win his third Manager of the Season award for the 2023 to 2024 season, having won previously in 2019 to 2020 and 2021 to 2022.

Klopp’s resilience helped Liverpool overcome injury setbacks and return to the Champions League while also challenging for the Premier League title alongside Arsenal and Manchester City.

Joining Klopp on the list of nominees was Arsenal’s manager, Mikel Arteta, who was also yet to win the Manager of the Season award.

Arsenal’s impressive performance, leading in the standings with a record number of 26 wins, 88 goals scored and 28 conceded, bolstered Arteta’s nomination.

Meanwhile Aston Villa’s Unai Emery and Bournemouth’s Andoni Iraola completed the list of nominees.

Emery’s unexpected push for Champions League qualification with Aston Villa earned him a nomination, while Iraola’s remarkable achievement at Bournemouth, guided them to their highest-ever points total in the Premier League, secured his place on the list.

Ultimately, the fate of these contenders lied in the hands of the voters, with voting closing on May 13, 2024.
